...it is something that we learn.

Here you can see a Mat Ratz class with kids aged 5 to 7 years being tested on Thai boxing combinations, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grappling techniques and street self defence moves. The program teaches them mixed martial arts with Thai kick boxing and karate kicking and punching together with wrestling moves from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo.
The emphasis is on them teaching them interesting martial arts, developing their confidence and giving them a good habit of physical exercise that keeps them healthy and strong. They are also taught stranger danger awarenesss and how to deal with bullys.
They are also taught comradeship, teamwork, focus and concentration. The children are taught by experienced instructors who teach with encouragement and a methodology of cooperative discipline.
Rewards are given for good work and our homework sheets are very popular with the mums and dads.
Here are just some additional benefits your child will receive: Emotional and Social Development
The ability to deal with frustration and be patient with others e.g. learning how to take turns. While training at the Academy your child will have many opportunities to make new friends and gain further independence from their parents.
Our classes are designed to be fun and hold the attention of a young child but we also encourage their self-discipline and ability to concentrate.
Positive Attitude
Respect for teachers and the value of teamwork and encouraging others.
Physical Development
Improved hand-eye coordination, balance and flexibility.

Our Youth program is a freestyle martial arts system for teenagers aged 13 to 15. Classes are taught in a friendly but disciplined environment and all fitness levels are welcome. The class is the stepping stone between the young children’s classes and the full adult classes with emphasis on catering to the young teen’s mind-set. The techniques taught are taken from the most effective and up-to-date martial arts fighting systems available today together with the most effective classical martial arts systems methodologies that work:
• Karate and Thai kickboxing for punches and kicks • Brazilian jiu jitsu & wrestling for grappling and submissions • Philipino stick and knife fighting for weaponry combat • Mixed Martial Arts for takedowns and integrating striking and grappling
The program also includes many street self defence techniques and concepts such as how to escape from common positions and holds with tactics on dealing with bullying and a strong emphasis on dealing with the real street attack situation.
We maintain a philosophy of using what works and discarding unnecessary concepts. This has resulted in a martial arts programs that not only suits the modern environment but is embraced by the informed student seeking out something that is going to give them the best martial arts experience an methodologies that will not only enhance their ability to look after themselves but also give them great fitness and heaps of confidence that will be expressed in every aspect of their lives.

...The whole point of this is to say that without you guys I never could have done any of this and my life would definitely not have been as rewarding as it has been.
Win or lose MMA/BJJ has taught me to aim high, never give up and that every problem has a solution and for that I'm forever grateful.

Everyone should know how to defend themselves. You will definitely learn these abilities at the Academy of Combat. Don't hesitate start today, you will not regret it when the situation arises when you have to defend/protect yourself.
-Stephen Baker
...I would recommend this course (N.A.S.T.I Self Defence) to everyone, male, female and child alike, as it covers a range of scenarios on multiple levels.
I found it to be invaluable towards my attitude to the way I live and go about my life; where once I froze in the face of fear, I now don't give it the time of day.
